1. Background of WDA:
Women Development Association "WDA" is a non-profit, non-political and non-governmental organization that is established by a group of poor women who joined together with the purpose of improving the living condition of the people lining in their areas of slum villages in Phnom Penh city after the first election in Cambodia organized by UN agency called UNTAC. As a result, Women Development Association with acronym of WDA was found in October 1994 as a Non-Government Organization and legally recognized by the Council of Ministers in April 1st, 1995 with a Code No. 512, and has registered with the Ministry of Interior in June 12th, 2000, Code No. 516.
2. Vision:
We want to see poor & vulnerable people and people living with HIV/AIDS are able to solve their own problems, to seek for proper health services by themselves, to do behavior change for applying prevention to improve healthy family; in addition, the vulnerable children have chance to graduate the basic education and the whole family of those vulnerable people have better living condition with peace and prosperity.

4. Goal:
To contribute to the poverty reduction through integrated community development with disadvantage and vulnerable groups in slum and rural areas to be better with peace, security and prosperity towards sustainable community-development in Cambodia; those are:
  • Promotion of Children education of Child labor/Child illiteracy of vulnerable children;
  • Promotion of Women’s rights and leadership to reduce all violence against women and gender issues;
  • Promotion of Health status of the poor & vulnerable people especially women and youth workers in the communities and garment factories and children,
Improvement the standard of living condition of the disadvantage and vulnerable groups in slum and rural areas.
5. Mission Statement :
In order to improve the living condition of the poor people, especially the women, children and youths from the disadvantaged & vulnerable families, WDA is working actively through strengthening the capacity of community-based people and garment factory workers to function self-help structures for community organizing, community development, primary health education, STD & HIV/AIDS prevention & Reproductive Health Education, Vocational skill training, child-educational promotion & campaigns, women & children rights, peace building for out-school youths, research with different topics, Gender promotion and advocacy towards a long-term sustainable community development.
